WINco wood floors are easy to maintain. See our parquet cleaning and maintenance guide to learn how to clean wood floors.
PROTECTING WINco PARQUET
If construction work is to be carried out or if other surfaces in the room are to be finished after the wood floor has been installed, the floor must first be vacuumed of the installation residues and then protected with a permeable material (e.g. cardboard). If corrugated board is used, the smooth surface should be placed against the wood floor.
When furnishing a room, cardboard does not always provide sufficient cover for the wood floor. Before moving any heavy furniture, the wood floor should be protected with, for example, a smooth carpet. Before moving a piece of furniture, make sure that the carpet material does not colour or stain the floor.
If the parquet has been installed in an underfloor heating system and has been protected with, for example, a piece of cardboard, the surface temperature of the room must not exceed +18°C.
Any tape used in connection with protection must NOT be fixed to the wood floor. Removing the tape may damage the surface treatment.

IDEAL CONDITIONS
FOR A WINco WOOD FLOOR
To ensure that the newly installed wood floor remains in good condition, the relative humidity in the room must be kept between 35-60% and the indoor temperature between +18-24°C. After installation, the temperature and relative humidity of the room must be measured with suitable and sufficiently accurate meters. During the heating season, the air humidity should be regulated with, for example, a humidifier. In summer, sufficient ventilation should be provided.
If the relative humidity in the room falls below the acceptable level, small cracks may appear in the floor due to the natural characteristics of wood, and if the air is extremely dry, some floorboards may become concave (or convex, if the air is too humid). If the air humidity falls below 30% (RH), the room humidity should be increased with the help of e.g. humidifiers. If optimal conditions for the wood floor cannot be maintained, permanent creaking or warping of the floor may occur when the air humidity level exceeds or falls below the reference values. We recommend monitoring the indoor air temperature and relative humidity with a digital combination meter throughout the year.
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun changes and deepens the natural tone of the wood. Therefore, if the floor is exposed unevenly to sunlight, this can leave a mark.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF WOOD FLOORS
WINco wood floors are easy to clean and care for when the following instructions are followed:

How to scrub parquet
- Regularly clean loose dust and dirt off the floor with a hoover.
- Clean the floor with a damp (not wet!) mop. We recommend using detergents containing vegetable or coconut oil or mild soap (pH 5.5-6.0), which is suitable for wood floors.
- Avoid excessive use of detergents or the use of strong detergents. Strong detergents can dissolve the layer of oil or varnish that protects the surface of the wood floor.
- Any excess water should be cleaned from the floor without delay.

How to care for wood parquet
- Immediately remove any stains from the wood floor.
- Glue felt pads to the ends of the furniture legs. If you have to move furniture, protect the wood floor surface. In some households.
- Appliances and furniture are equipped with wheels that are very small in relation to their mass, and these wheels can damage the floor. In such a case, a simple piece of cardboard is not sufficient to protect the surface of the wood floor. The floor must be protected with a thicker cover.
- It is advisable to oil all wood floors finished in natural oil immediately after installation.
- When installing an oiled product in public areas, we recommend oiling the parquet immediately after installation. Follow the usage and dosage instructions on the package. When the treatment oil has dried, the floor can be lightly polished with a machine equipped with a white disc.
